About a month ago I used this company to move us from CA to PA. This is not the actual moving company, this is a 3rd party that coordinates the movers. They gave us a lowball quote to reel us in and they made me feel like I was paying for any fees upfront, but this was a very bad assumption.Their quote was for nearly half of what we actually paid. The moving company they sent instantly almost doubled the CUFT. They also added a packing fee (they showed up 2-3 hours earlier than the coordinators said, so we were not as prepared as we would have been). Then they added a bulk item fee for the refrigerator. Together the fees added up to $1100 but we were given the option to give just half in cash if we kept that detail between us (didn't have cash or a ride to get cash so this wasn't an option for us). The packing cost included blankets, a case of tape, and 1-2 rolls of wrap, all of which we didn't get to keep the remainder of (and the blankets were taken back during the unload). I will never understand the bulk item fee because we already paid for the bulkiness of the refrigerator via the CUFT cost and items were stacked on top of it in the truck, so it isn't like it took up unusable space in the truck. The original movers used thin tape that tears easily on our trash can, lamps, and desks. Very time consuming to take off and offered no protection, just keeping things together (which they could have done with less tape or just saran wrap). They also ripped the electric controls off the standing desk, making it inoperable.During the process of the move:2 lamp frames broke. All 4 metal medium size metal cabinets now have deep dents on the tops and sides. The standing desk was rendered fully useless as even a desk because the left leg was very wobbly. The mechanical controls were also never found.Screws for the TV stands were not kept with the stands and were not in any of the makeshift containers with other screws/bolts.2x large glass grain canisters were busted -- the box looked like something hard was shoved into the side of it where the canisters were. There was a trail of rice and quinoa up the stairs to our apartment and through it to the box's resting place. The driver who helped unload the items said our items took up 600 CUFT (we were charged for about 750 CUFT). When I told this to the coordinator, they said the driver wouldn't know (the driver who physically removed the items from the truck would know better than someone who had not seen our items in the truck, imo) and they didn't offer any proof that our items took up what they claimed. We have a storage unit of at least 3x more items that we still need to move from CA to PA. We will be using the pods or U-boxes as this type of company has proven itself to be more of a bait and switch type of company in regards to price and the movers they use charge a needless premium while still breaking and denting our items. And they are completely silent on their movers propositions to pay under the table.
